I bought a VCR yesterday, mostly so as not to miss the final episode (of the second series) of The Sopranos whilst I was at work.

All I need now is a mobile phone and I'll be fit for the twentieth century.

Last night to the Coronet in Stratford: not a cinema but a large traditional East End pub (i.e. very mixed, rather low rent and - refreshingly - fuelled by alcohol rather than coke and K).

The Coronet calls itself 'a Soho style bar in the heart of the East End' which is pushing it a bit on several fronts (especially if the omission of the hyphen between the second and third words is deliberate). But I found it friendly enough, and pretty easy to get to, so I might well go again. (Memo to David: Quiz Night on Thursday.)

Once the cheesy cabaret was over and done with, things perked up considerably with the advent of Neil (who'd mentioned he drank there a lot) and, later, Phil.

Big Mistake of the Night: letting Phil explain the workings of a four-horse fifteen-bet accumulator. Too Much Information, Phil.

I've heard very little transatlantic news or views of the US re-make of Queer As Folk, which is surprising given how many American queens raved over the original.

In the meantime, keep an eye out for Metrosexuality, a Channel 4 sit com written and directed by Rickki Beadle Blair a quote Black gay writer actor director dramatist singer songwriter dancer aerobics teacher, oh, and a complete hunk unquote.
