We heart Banksy, the very essence of the loveable art-terrorist.

And Banksy hearts the Israeli security wall - well, no, he doesn't, actually (he says it "essentially turns Palestine into the world's largest open prison") but he certainly appreciates its potentialities: "the ultimate activity holiday destination for graffiti writers"

Sorry for disappearing like that: it was an even busier week than usual - not with work, but with leisure, and leisure-related issues (including the hard drive on my nine-month-old iMac G5 going intermittently tits-up, grrr).

Tell you what, I found a folder full of these

Nothing to say

whilst delving through my archived software.

I'll serve one up from time to time when blogging per se is difficult, and/or I have nothing to say. (You'll know by now that, much as I'd like to, I'm not in a position to blog on a daily basis - but I still like to have an entry for every day, even if it's posted considerably later. God knows what the hell that's all about.)

The thing that leapt out at me from the stories about the archive-release reports of Mick Jagger's 1969 drug bust was not the allegations of corrupt police work (quelle surprise), but the name of the arresting officer: Detective Sergeant Constable.

So I've managed to catch all of the first series of Lost now - just in time to patronise all of you unlucky punters who get to see it start on Channel Four tomorrow week.

You'll be wanting to know how I rate it.

I liked it quite a lot, in fact - highly intriguing plot, lots of character work, very glossy scenery - and I'd give it an eight out of ten if I didn't think that would encourage it to have ideas above its station. A 7+ overall, though I thought it sagged a bit in the middle.

No spoilers, but it's not giving too much away to confirm that you still won't know what's going on by the end of the first series (and you may want to record the first half hour or so of the first episode: there's a truly stunning moment, but blink and you'll miss it.)

Thinking fondly about my (somewhat eccentric) prep school the other day (described on their web site as 'a place of mud and love', which is just about right).

Thinking even more fondly of the school uniform: aertex and corduroy for the most part. but for special occasions we wore caps and blazers - in shocking pink, with silver edging.

*

What would I not give now for a cap or a blazer, in the unlikely event that they're still available, and in my size.

In the meantime, I shall make do with this shirt which I've wanted for ages and, hurrah, bought this week in the Emmett sale.

Just the right shade of pink, meaty rather than pale, and just in time for Brighton Pride.

London Pride, Soho Pride, Brighton Pride: I'm not really sure what it's all for any more (above and beyond giving publicans the opportunity to sell bottles beer for £3.20; yes, Comptons, I mean you).

And the thought occurs, as you stagger home through gutters crunchy with discarded beer cans, no money on your mobile and ankles aching from dancing on uneven lawns - let's just declare one day a year Drunk Pride and have done with it.
