Not all the reviews are in, so some plot points remain obscure - but I think we can dispense with the suggestion that Dumbledore discovers Harry masturbating Ron Weasley in the Hogwarts toilets.

The columnati are busy coining new clichés to express their horror at the thought that the 'suicide' bombers - if such they be - were born and bred in this country.
These people just don't get it, do they?
It's called Globalisation, dumbass.

That line about beer, boys and books - as with most well-made phrases - is something of a lie: I've actually been pretty much ignoring the printed page in favour of chasing down obscure tv shows via the usual unusual channels lately.
I'm up to series 6 episode 21 of Will & Grace - well ahead of terrestrial tv - and series 5 episode 7 of The West Wing - well behind, but I restarted from the beginning.
I gave up on Carnevale around series 1 episode 7 but Fat Actress is turning into something of a potty-mouthed addiction (s1e5), as is Lost (s1e10).
I'm not sure what to make of Lost: melodrama certainly, but quite well done, and lavishly filmed: more MelodRama than drama given its lavish island setting.
More than a little formulaic though, the way each character's past is slotted into ongoing plot developments, episode by episode; I also wish I was more confident than I am about the single shot that, I thought, showed a character as an amputeee rather than just paralysed.
As to the polar bears, well..

Apologies for going into sporadic mode (is there any other mode at Blogadoon, I hear you ask). The thing is, because I don't work nine-to-five (or indeed any kind of regular hours), I don't blog from work: hence, unlike most other bloggers, I have to have leisure time before I blog. And when I'm working more shifts than usual (as this week, partly to make up for my holiday, partly to make up for other people's holidays), what little leisure time I have has to be strictly prioritised: beer, boys, books - with blog a long way down the list.Deal with it, why doncha?

Last month's holiday was absurdly cheap: David found us a inexpensive apartment, admittedly slightly out of town but not absurdly so, and I (unusually for me) committed to the holiday far enough in advance to get a decent price on my return Easyjet flight from Gatwick to Barcelona.
Add in a quarter share of the £35 cab fare from the airport to Sitges and the total cost comes to just £200.
But here's the interesting bit, especially if you're a smoker: I brought ten cartons of cigarettes back with me (that's 2,000 cigarettes: well within the Customs & Excise upper 'personal-use' limit of 3,200) at €2.70 a pack (as opposed to the UK price of £5).
So, assuming I don't give up smoking within the next two months (and that's a no-brainer), I've saved £315 on my nicotine budget.Or, to put it another way, figuring in the cost of travel and acommodation, I actually made a profit on my holiday of...well, you do the math.
