And the results are in...
Londoners are stoic [1320 Google news citations], defiant [569], gritty [109] and determined [1660] to show a stiff upper lip [247] - due in no small part to the way we have been hardened by The Blitz [1,750].
(You know many people over 65 who are still living in London and who weren't away on active service in 1940? Me neither.).

A quick note to reassure you that I am alive and well in East London; the first I heard about today's bombs was when I got up around 3 o'clock this afternoon.
The facts of the matter are still at that permeable stage where news reports can speak of bombs at six stations but Transport for London names only three: Aldgate, Russell Square and Edgware Road.
The tube will be suspended until tomorrow morning, but it's not entirely bad news for commuters: Thames Clippers are offering free boat services between all piers from Millbank to Woolwich.
I'm very wary of the claim of responsibility by the so-called "Secret Group of al-Qa'eda's Jihad in Europe"; can't take an organisation that includes 'secret' in its title seriously. (Too early to blame the French, I suppose?)
Overyourhead has a minute by minute response to today's events.
Police have now confirmed at least 33 dead: 21 at King's Cross underground station, seven at Liverpool Street, and five at Edgware Road. An unknown number of people have also died following a bomb on a bus at Upper Woburn Square.
From the early evening news, one aspect of the coverage becomes clear: this is probably the first such incident to prioritise video from mobile phones.

Nice to see that someone's happy about the IOC's decision; personally, I'm extremely pissed off.
As I wrote to an American friend today: "Top tip: never ever congratulate anyone who actually lives in London on their new-found opportunities to cope with increased construction work, transport overload and hordes of people who will stand in your way when you're late for work."
Bah, basically.

Ah, showbusiness has gone! Gone!
People just want to get on reality shows and make money today. They don't care about talent.
Anyone gets on television, fat people, tall people, skinny people, people in wheelchairs. Someone else makes millions out of them and their lives are ruined for ever.
I hate it, I really hate it.![]()
